A Year at Hallmark
Every week brings something new in Hallmark's intensive 10-month program. Retrace the journey of our most recent graduates, the Class of 2009, from orientation to graduation. As you step through this timeline, realize that a given week in 2010 or 2011 will likely be different from the "same" week in 2008 or 2009 — unlike multi-year programs, Hallmark is unfettered in its ability to rapidly adapt to industry changes. We take advantage of that freedom to give every class the most current and relevant instruction possible. Graduation — Luck was with us Friday, June 19th as the weather held out for 195 graduates from the Class of 2009 to receive their Certificates of Completion. Although the morning started with a fine mist under threatening skies, Keynote Speaker, Sam Abell, was quick to point out the quality of light in these conditions, from a photographer's point of view. Sam, a highly acclaimed photographer whose career has spanned 3 decades working for "National Geographic", talked to the graduates about his career and made note of how envious he was that their Hallmark education emphasized specific business training, something he wished he'd had the opportunity to receive when he was starting out. Special Awards were bestowed upon a number of graduates who excelled throughout the Hallmark program. The ceremony concluded with the unveiling of the Mamiya Award of Excellence, which acknowledges dedicated efforts and achievements in the field of photography. It is judged by an independent group of advertising professionals. This year's award has been given to Adam Hribar (pictured) of Langhorne, PA and graduate of Hallmark Institute of Photography. Prior to attending Hallmark, Adam graduated high school having spent three years studying photography. Through these classes, he developed an intense passion for photography. Adam chose to attend Hallmark because of its 10-month total immersion program and its location in an area where he could devote all of his attention to photography without any distraction. At Hallmark, Adam found his calling not only on the shooting side of photography, but in the area of imaging arts. His imaginative skills in post-production breathe life and energy into his work. While working on his images in front of his computer, his focus is very intense and he finds the work easy, immersing himself in the details at hand. Upon graduating from Hallmark, Adam will highlight this unique vision and illustrative style as he embarks on a career in commercial/advertising photography.
