From June 8th – 12th, sixteen students from local high schools in San Antonio (Brandeis, O’Connor, John Jay, Judson, Robert E. Lee, Cornerstone, Geneva School) attended the healthcare intensive workshop at Hallmark University’s Main Campus. At the workshop, students acquired healthcare knowledge and clinical skills including observing & recording vital signs (temperature, pulse, respirations, and blood pressure, height and weight) plus vision screening, medical terminology and abbreviations, charting, and patient care assessment.
We are proud to report each student received their certification in Blood- Borne Pathogens along with CPR & First Aid. At the end of the workshop, students were praised for their hard work and achievements at an award recognition ceremony.
Each high school student was recognized for completing the workshop, perfect attendance, and academic excellence. Two campers were selected to address the ceremony and detailed their experience and enjoyment in front of parents, family members along with University President Brent Fessler, Senior Vice President of Operations Donald “Jay” Gregson, and Dean of Academics Dr. Darla Kenward.
During the ceremony, students were presented a Hallmark certificate, academic achievement pin, and a specialized scholarship available to each high school camp attendee that completed the workshop. We would like to thank the students for joining us at camp this year and look forward to hearing about their future success and achievements.
