Aeronautics Graduate Receives Award to Launch Her New Career in Aviation
“This award is not a gift… you earned every bit of it.” – Stan Younger to Charice Grier.
Last year, Stan Younger, a local Aviation Executive and Hallmark University Adjunct Instructor, pledged 20 scholarships to graduates of Hallmark University’s Airframe & Powerplant program over the next ten years. On Friday, June 5th, he awarded Charice Grier, a recent graduate from the College of Aeronautics, with the 3rd Younger Family Bright Lights Scholarship Award.
“I can’t think of anyone who deserves this award more than who we have here today,” shared Kurt Leslie, Dean for the College of Aeronautics during a virtual conference call.
The Bright Lights Scholarship is given to students based on their performance in school and a review of the recipient’s Hallmark Character Traits. Having learned about her personal journey that led to her time with Hallmark University, the Younger family chose to present Charice with their esteemed award.
“This award is not a gift…. you earned every bit of it,” said Stan Younger during the conference call. “It may not be the largest award you will get in your life, but I can tell you that we depend on Hallmark University to send us the best names who have achieved the greatest things, by climbing the highest mountains, and you are clearly the one who has earned this.”
Charice joined Hallmark University to become an Aircraft Technician, shifting to a career vastly different than the positions she held in healthcare. She was devoted to learning and doing her best in the program, growing close to the instructors who were present to congratulate her on her newest achievement.
“I would just like to say thank you and to Hallmark,” said Charice during the conference call. “There were a few times where days became overwhelming, and I thought that I wouldn’t make it to graduation. But everyone got behind me and gave me what I needed to get here. My son and daughter are so proud of me, I feel like I’m on top of the world and that I’ve done so much. I want to thank everybody for standing behind me and helping me to become somebody.”
