New Dean Brings Over Thirty Years of Experience to School of Nursing
Dr. Claudia Oglivie is ready to use her 30+ years of experience in nursing to lead Hallmark University’s thriving School of Nursing to a new era of greatness.
Dr. Oglivie launched her career in nursing as an Emergency Department nurse, at a Level I trauma hospital in the Bronx, N.Y. She completed her Bachelor and Master of Science both in Nursing at Hunter College – City University of New York. After earning her MSN, Dr. Oglivie was commissioned in the U.S. Army, fulfilling numerous duties including Quality Management, director of a military school, and a Special Assistant to the Commanding General at the U.S. Army Medical Research Command. Dr. Oglivie received numerous awards during her career, including the Meritorious Service Medal, the Army Commendation Medal, and the Army Achievement Medal.
“I worked in various positions in the military and served on several tours in Iraq, Saudi Arabia, and Honduras,” shared Dr. Claudia Oglivie, dean for the School of Nursing. “My military career culminated with the award of the Legion of Merit after 26 years of service, where I retired from the U.S. Army as a Lieutenant Colonel.”
After her military retirement, Dr. Oglivie joined the University of Maryland’s School of Medicine, working as a project manager for telemedicine and trauma research. After moving back to San Antonio and earning her doctorate of Philosophy from UT Health Science Center, Dr. Oglivie joined Hallmark University to serve as the School of Nursing’s new dean.
“It is an honor to serve as the dean of nursing at Hallmark University. The students have demonstrated a high degree of motivation in search of knowledge and practice to be the best RNs with a Bachelor degree. I am here to guide and assist them in their quest for excellence. The level of interest, performance and dedication that they have is unlike what I have seen in the past.”
Nursing students at Hallmark University dedicate themselves to their new profession, working tirelessly to excel in their studies. Their passion for nursing is displayed by their success after taking the NCLEX, with the past three graduating nursing cohorts achieving a 100% first time NCLEX pass rate. 
“Many nursing schools have been closed because they cannot achieve the first time NCLEX pass rate in their programs. It takes a lot of work and training by both faculty and students to reach the necessary NCLEX pass rate.”
Now serving as the School of Nursing’s dean, Dr. Oglivie plans to maintain the success of students taking the NCLEX at the end of their program and to build upon the faculty so that they continuously develop students to become high achievers.
“I love the values that Hallmark instills in its students and faculty with the character program. If you look at Hallmark’s principles, such as leadership, stewardship, agility, integrity and communication, they are all traits that we espouse and teach in nursing. Hallmark takes it further and emphasizes all of these traits that must be instilled in a nurse throughout their development.”
Dr. Oglivie’s passion for nursing and students’ success will lead to substantial outcomes for the School of Nursing. Pairing her expertise and drive to develop the best nurses possible will place Hallmark University’s nursing programs among the best in the nation.
