Reggie Williams joins Hallmark University as the Vice President of Advancement
Clarence “Reggie” Williams joined Hallmark University in late 2016 as Vice President of Advancement. He will be stewarding HU’s relationship with the community and advancing community support for the university’s mission.
“Reggie brings an extraordinary amount of experience and community relationships,” said Brent Fessler, President of Hallmark University. “But, most importantly, his passion for changing lives through service above self, education, and working together in the community aligns with Hallmark’s vision in San Antonio.”
“I have always been interested in education,” said Reggie Williams. “When asked to join the Hallmark team and after researching Hallmark’s current and past history, I determined that the quality of education and character development that Hallmark provides to its many students is what our community needs. I believe there is no greater way to ensure America’s leadership in the world than to have an educated workforce with character. Education is freedom. Hallmark University is the gateway to freedom because it provides both the skill and character necessary for a life of accomplishment and fulfillment.”
Fessler recalls, “Reggie taught me something life-changing long before he joined Hallmark, ‘a true servant leader walks into a room looking for ways to make everyone’s life in the room better.’ That encapsulates the goal we have for every one of our graduates.”
After graduating from the College of Wooster, Williams was commissioned as an officer by the United States Air Force where he advanced to the rank of Colonel. Williams then served at USAA becoming Senior Vice President of Information Systems Operations and the Executive Chairman of the USAA Volunteer Corp (a 5,000 person operation). Williams was then recruited to serve as the President/CEO of the San Antonio Area Foundation, and oversaw SAAF’s move to its current location at The Pearl. Williams has served on the boards of United Way, Christus Santa Rosa Health System (past chairman), The Tobin Center for The Performing Arts (board of directors), the University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston (development board), and currently serves on the board of directors for Christus Health System and the UT Health Science Center’s Department of Humanities and Ethics Advisory Board. He is a member of the San Antonio Rotary Club for which he’s served as President and an officer of Rotary International as a District Governor (2009-2010). Recently, Mayor Ivy Taylor requested Williams to serve on the San Antonio Tricentennial Commission’s Fund Raising Committee.
Williams is a graduate of the College of Wooster, OH (BA); Westfield State, MA (MEd); and, has performed doctoral studies at Auburn University. He is also a graduate of the National Defense University’s Armed Forces Staff College and the Industrial College of the Armed Forces. His accolades include being awarded the Alamo Chamber of Commerce’s Lifetime Achievement Award, The College of Wooster Distinguished Alumni Award, and the San Antonio Area Foundation’s recognition of naming its resource Library “The Reggie Williams Resource Library.” In 2015, Williams was the Honorary Chairman of the San Antonio Martin Luther King Jr. Commission for which his hometown of Orrville, Ohio honored him as one of two outstanding alumni (the other was Coach Bob Knight).
