Another Summer Intensive Camp at Hallmark University culminates with success, smiles and great experiences had by high school students and faculty alike. Over a dozen high school students from the greater San Antonio metropolitan area were nominated by their program instructors to attend the annual Security+ Summer Intensive Summer Camp to explore Information Security. The students selected to attend the camp earned their way into camp through previous notable efforts, like earning various information security certifications and participation in the Cyber Patriot high school program.
The Security+ Summer Intensive Program consisted of two weeks of concentrated study. The high school students were diligent in their efforts to intake and understand a condensed version of the “Fundamental of Information Security” course which is normally absorbed by Hallmark University students in an eight-week term. Despite the accelerated pace, the students managed to keep up with their assignments and labs, and some even earned their CompTIA Security+ Certification.
The camp concluded with a ceremony honoring the high school students with certificates of achievement and Hallmark University’s famous pancake breakfast. University President Brent Fessler along with Founder Richard Fessler and CEO of Digital Defense Larry Hurtado addressed the ceremony and detailed the importance of information security and the concerted effort recently exemplified by the high school students in attendance. After the ceremony, students met and conversed with a number of distinguished guests from the Information Security industry including Chris Cook and Larry Hurtado.
Information Security is vitally important to our economy and we were very happy to see these high school students take an active interest in furthering their education during summer break. Hallmark University would like to thank the students for joining us this summer and the camp donors IP Secure, 80/20 Foundation, Digital Defense Inc., ASG Energy and Southwest Research Institute for financial support.
